The nagware annoyance aside, StatPlus:mac LE should suffice for many users, especially those that have been stuck with Excel 2004 and haven't been too thrilled with its performance under Rosetta. You could grab it for just $200 if you need any of its advanced analysis functions. The LE version does seem to cover the most common analysis functions, though, and for the rest of this week AnalystSoft is offering a 20 percent discount on the Pro version. The bad news is that it is essentially a nagware version of StatPlus:mac Pro, the $250 version that has "many extra features to help you analyze data better and more professionally." On the TNC tab, I just picked “network KISS mode.” There are other settting on the other tabs to play with, but these covered it for me. On the APRS tab I filled everything in, but unchecked the box for “Enable APRS Digipeater”, and unchecked the box for “Enable APRS beaconing” because I’m only interested in receving. From the tools and options menu you can set up pretty much everything you need. After downloading and installing per the directions, I fired it up. After a quick search, I decided to do my testing using Pinpoint APRS. Step 4 - Client program, because I am not hardcore. If you’re hardcord though, you don’t even need a client program - you can just read the raw text of the packets, as they will start scrolling by as soon Direwolf hears sounds its recognize as packets. The program will pretty much start listening on whatever sound devices your computer has, and tell you what ‘ports’ you should you should have any client programs listen on. Double clicking that opens up the program in a terminal window. For simplicity sake, I threw a shortcut to direwolf.exe on my desktop. From there I just headed to the sound settings on my computer, and while watching the mic level, slowly adjust the volume on the radio, so as to avoid over-driving the mic input. Plug one end of the cable into the headphone jack on the radio, and the other end into the mic port on the usb soundcard. In my case however, I again went with something cheap that I had on hand, since I only needed RX for this part - a little USB sound card, and 3.5mm audio cable. The most common is probably using a sound interface like the venerable signaLink. There are lots of ways to do this, from very basic to very complex. Step 2 - get the signal from the radio to the computer. ![]() Since I had that in hand, it’s what I used, but most hams will have an HT, mobile radio, or something similar that can receive signals on their designated APRS freqency (144.39MHz here in the states). We’ll call this the V1 Proof of Concept, as I’m already scheeming for the more permanent version, now that I’ve done some testing. What I have operational right now, as a result, is pretty much a kludged together selection of things I had on hand, freebies, and things that were fairly inexpensive to purchase. To get started with these things, I wanted to play around with stuff I had on hand, as much as possible. This post will focus on the first item - I’ll detail the transcieving via LoRa part of the ground-station in another post.
![]() ![]() SQlite heavily depends on the underlying filesystem locking functionality so it should be used with caution, more details here When SQLite is searching for something it would first check this temporary file and if nothing is found proceed with the main database file.Īs a result, readers don’t compete with writers and performance is much better compared to the Old Way. In this case all writes are appended to a temporary file ( write-ahead log) and this file is periodically merged with the original database. If something crashes in the middle of writing into the database file it would pick up this temporary file and revert the changes from it Write-Ahead Logging or WAL (New Way) Prior to writing something to the database file SQLite would first save the chunk to be changed in a temporary file. This is why here they’re saying SQlite implements serializable transactions TroublesĪs it needs to lock an entire database every time and everybody waits for a process handling writing concurrency suffers and such concurrent writes/reads are of fairly low performance Rollbacks/outages (This is known as a multiple-readers-single-writer or MSRW lock) Multiple readers can co-exist and read something in parallel.ĭuring writing it makes sure an exclusive lock is acquired and no other process is reading/writing simultaneously and hence writes are safe. That means whenever it needs to read/write something it first acquires a lock on the ENTIRE database file. In this mode SQLite uses DATABASE-LEVEL locking. Such ACID support as well as concurrent read/writes are provided in 2 ways - using the so-called journaling (lets call it “ old way”) or write-ahead logging (lets call it “ new way”) Journaling (Old Way) Lets figure out why SQLite is transactionalĪll changes within a single transaction in SQLite either occur RAM is several orders of magnitude faster than disk. If you want really fast read/write access, use an in-memory SQLite database. A lot would then depend on how fast your filesystem is, since the SQLite engine itself is extremely fast and has many clever optimizations to minimize contention. ![]() But if you start writing concurrently, lock contention could become an issue. SELECT), SQLite can handle them very well. If most of those concurrent accesses are reads (e.g. ![]() ![]() Corals don’t have iPhones or secretaries, but all of them need to spawn in a synchronous fashion for the eggs to be fertilised. (A great example of this, though animal not plant, is coral spawning. It is wonderful, and is definitely a key to understanding plant behaviour. It is simply a process evolved among communities of living things: plants, animals, bacteria and so on. The idea of co-operation without thought or intellect is an exact parallel of evolution without design. Trees don’t have brains, but nevertheless there is communication and co-operation between them and Chalmers would say that there is a level of consciousness. There is no suggestion of intellectual thought being involved, nor sentience. Their work in integrated information theory is stupefyingly hard to get one's head around (good wine is definitely handy here), but they would see the sorts of communication networks that plants enjoy along with the consequential co-operation and actions they stimulate as an example of consciousness. They see consciousness as something that does not have an intellectual threshold and consciousness is something that stretches through all communication. Guilio Tononi is a neuroscientist working in this field and his ideas gel with those of philosopher David Chalmers. But some of the leading philosophers and neuroscientists today are challenging this view. The co-operation of species and between species happens with communication, but often without language or thought (we might argue about language, depending on how we might try to define the word).Ĭonsciousness has often been generally regarded as a function of higher brain activity, needing language, logic and awareness. I still have regularly to remind myself that this all happens by evolution without any thought taking place. He shows us how it is that an unthinking process creates things that we find (in our prejudice) almost impossible to imagine as not being part of some intelligent plan. Dawkins has so beautifully expressed this in The Blind Watchmaker (Norton & Co, 1986). The sheer brilliance of evolution is that it causes incredible mimicry of design (an intellectual process), both in physical form and behaviour, without any actual design taking place. If this sounds flakey to some, that is probably because they are applying human prejudice to terms such as consciousness and co-operation. Katia discusses the concepts of consciousness among plants and ecosystems, about the ways they can communicate and co-operate. But it would be sensible to extend this debate. I don’t want to create cabals of Sunnis and Shiites among the biodynamic community, nor the wider wine world, so I am not going to challenge or claim that there is some sort of 'true path'. There is a substantial body of those who are equally convinced that the whole thing runs on cosmic energies that cannot be understood by science and anything that breaks the holy trinity of cow horns, stag’s bladders and astrology is tantamount to heresy. While I am absolutely convinced that this is the right path, it would be naive to imagine that this is a generally held view in the biodynamic community. As the acceptance of biodynamic farming and viticulture has grown, more and more farmers are convinced evangelists for the 'dynamic ecosystem' approach: the idea that we can understand and form sympathetic alliances with the underlying ecosystems of our land and this lies at the heart of successful biodynamic farming. The thoughts of Katia Nussbaum are ones that have been reverberating around many biodynamic producers for some time. See also the many thoughtful responses on our Members' forum. In which case we trade 150% cc and 120% cd for 187% cc and 110% cd. Seeker build I use for practically everything, Maim serves for high level bosses (Corrosive may be better there due to higher slash, althought Maim doesn't affect proc damage. With Seeker my chance to proc Slash is about 60% per trigger pull (about 20 for Viral and Rad, less than 5 for Impact/Puncture), with Maim it's ~75%. I use Viral (for double damage proc) and Radiation (it's decent damage type). You don't need Corrosive on Dex Pixia, iirc 90% of all damage is slash which bypasses armor with procs. I use Hornet Strike, Lethal Torrent and Barrel Diffusion as usual pistol mods, then all dual stats and Seeker or Maim, depending on content. 10% crit should be fine then with Primed mods. Megan confirmed that wiki listed wrong value before. Not sure which one to replace with Seeker, if anything.ĭex Pixia got nerfed during Exalted Weapons change (crit got decreased from 15%) and crit isn't as good anymore, especially when considering pistol crit being weaker without Primed mods (Baro pls). Seeker would help me lot thinning out crowds on normal levels I guess, what to throw out for it though? Hornet Strike is a no-brainer to stay, two 60-60 mods are necessary for the status part of the build, the 2 crit mods are for the crit part, Barrel Diffusion is just too good to be removed so that leaves me with Lethal Torrent or Augur Pact. So those 2 would be replaced by Primed Target Cracker and Primed Pistol Gambit I guess. I guess Maim isn't really essential either. So, provided that I would go for a hybrid build, how exactly would you go for that? I'm certainly dropping Scorch, as that is just tagged on right now because I had no space for anything more expensive. I have Razorwing Blitz because it's immensely helpful on the plains and I'm doing a lot of bounties. I always built everything for pure crit or pure status as I felt that doing otherwise would make a jack-of-all-trades weapon that isn't really impressive for either applying crits or status effects. this is a bit embarrassing, but despite being MR25 and playing for over 1400 hours, I've never ever used a hybrid build with anything. As such the highest level content I'll tackle are sorties, ESO (where I usually don't take Titania because of the stupid timer and the energy reset) and very occasionally Sedna arenas for endo. I should probably mention that I don't do long endless runs as I find them soulcrushingly boring. ![]() But then again, with Dex Pixia's insane firerate and infinite ammo, that critrate is actually quite reasonable. 25% status makes reaching close to 100 pretty easy, and the base crit being 10% is not so hot. Don't get me wrong, it still absolutely shreds things and it actually does better against heavily armored enemies (I can now easily kill bolkors and firebolts even on max tier bounties), but why not improve it further, right?Īs always it comes down to status vs critical. It at least does worse than before, when it was based on my Lenz. It does reasonably well and strips armor like crazy, but the damage kinda falls off against sortie level enemies. So I thought maybe some fellow Titania players could share their builds.Ĭurrently I'm using this no forma status build. And since Titania is not exactly super popular, the number of YouTube sources are quite limited as well. ![]() Usually I look through the Warframe Builder entries, but as the site is yet to support exalted weapons, I'm kinda in a loss. So my favourite frame is Titania and as such I'm thinking about building a properly modded Dex Pixia (and maybe Diwata, although that one is a bit weak honestly).
